Work on the full mechanical overhaul of driverless metro trains from Copenhagen in a modern Rotterdam workshop. Daytime work focuses on fine mechatronic systems such as automatic doors and interior installations, using professional tools and clear procedures. Tasks are hands-on and varied: from disassembly and adjustment to testing and refitting of interiors. A role for someone who values precise work and likes being part of a project you won’t encounter elsewhere.

Wat ga je doen

The workshop in Rotterdam focuses on complete overhauls of driverless metro sets from Copenhagen. Metro cars are stripped and rebuilt so they can transport passengers safely and reliably for years to come. The daily reality centers on fine, mechatronic components: automatic door systems, sensors, actuators and interior fittings. Typical day-to-day activities include:
  • Dismantling and overhauling automatic door systems
  • Adjusting and testing doors for correct operation and safety
  • Replacing sensors and actuators
  • Removing and installing seats, floors and specialist interior panels
  • Working with calibrated tools and following repair protocols
The work is hands-on and technically varied; each train set brings its own challenges so no two days are exactly the same. Work is planned in day shift and carried out in a modern, well-equipped workshop with attention to safe and precise execution. Collaboration happens in a mixed international team of technicians with different backgrounds. This role is focused on the mechanical and mechatronic execution of the overhaul process — not on high-level engineering design or long-term project management.

Waar ga je werken

A modern workshop in Rotterdam where a compact team works on distinctive rail vehicles such as metros and locomotives. Projects range from months-long full rebuilds to quick repairs, with a focus on safe, precise mechanical and mechatronic work using professional equipment.

Wat wij zoeken

This helps you to get up to speed and contribute quickly:
  • An MBO level 3 or 4 qualification in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, automotive technology or a similar practical technical education
  • Experience with fine mechanical assembly and troubleshooting, so you can work directly on doors and interior components
  • VCA-VOL and forklift certificate are useful; if not in hand, there is the possibility to obtain them
  • Aerial platform (hoogwerker) certificate is a plus
  • Basic English for working in an international team; knowledge of Dutch is an advantage
These points are intended to help you self-select and understand what makes a good fit, rather than act as absolute barriers.

Wat wij bieden

A full-time, day-shift position with practical terms and workplace conditions that matter in daily practice:
  • Gross monthly salary range: €2,860–€4,238 (full-time)
  • 38 days off per year (25 vacation days + 13 ADV days)
  • Travel allowance for commuting
  • Work in a modern, safe workshop equipped with professional tools and facilities
  • Hands-on involvement in a large-scale European metro overhaul project — from strip-down to rebuild
In practice this means regular daytime hours, predictable schedules, access to good tooling and PPE, and varied technical tasks on rail vehicles not commonly found in other workshops.
