A hands-on role focused on maintenance and modernization of electrical systems on metros, locomotives and other rail vehicles in Rotterdam. Daily work includes diagnosing electrical faults, installing and testing train protection and signalling equipment, and assembling control cabinets according to technical drawings and safety procedures. A role for someone who prefers practical troubleshooting, clear technical routines and working directly with a workshop team.
Wat ga je doen
Daily work is workshop- and depot-based, with a mix of preventive maintenance, corrective repairs and system upgrades on rail vehicles. Tasks are technical and practical: you work with wiring, control cabinets, sensors and train protection systems, and you follow electrical schematics and wiring diagrams closely. Work includes commissioning and testing installed systems, documenting findings and collaborating with engineers when a fault requires deeper analysis.
This role is about hands-on electrical work and structured troubleshooting. It is not a remote office job or a project management role — the focus is on execution at the vehicle and system level. Expect both routine checks and complex fault finding, where diagnostic tools and methodical testing are used to isolate problems.
Typical day-to-day activities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical installations
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults using schematics and test equipment
- Assemble, wire and test control cabinets and associated cabling
- Install and commission train signalling and protection components
- Work together with engineers and specialists on technical root-cause analysis
Waar ga je werken
Work in a modern Rotterdam workshop on a variety of rail vehicles — from metros to locomotives. Projects range from multi-month full rebuilds to short repairs on damaged vehicles, so tasks vary in scope and technical challenge. The workshop environment is technically advanced and centred on safe, quality-driven maintenance and systematic problem solving.
